Yet Another Case For Post Processing

Sometimes, an image just needs a little extra kick.

I was out walking around this weekend, testing out my newly acquired Panasonic G3.  It had been raining for two straight days, and I just had to see what I could start doing with this little guy.  I headed out to the nearby Chapel Trail Nature Preserve, and as has been happening lately, there was not much to be had as far as scenic shots, let alone birding of any kind, but that’s another post all by itself.  Anyway, the breaking clouds made for a really nice composition as the sun set, so I captured this image.  Now, as you can tell from the title of this post, this image has been somewhat enhanced with post processing.

What you are looking at is my final edit, after a pass through Lightroom and Color Efex Pro 4.  The workflow was basically LR4 for the initial crop, then transferred to Color Efex Pro 4, where I applied several layered filters to enhance details in the clouds, and of course, to enhance the color.  Finally, I brought the image back into LR4 for a final touch of noise reduction.

Below  are the before and after renditions. If you’d like to have a closer look at the original capture, you can do so here.
